Bills Playoff 'Focus' Ripped By Ex All-Pro: Could Signing DeAndre Hopkins Be Solution?

After being linked to signing receiver DeAndre Hopkins, former All-Pro defensive tackle Gerald McCoy offered his stance on how he impacts the Buffalo Bills in the playoffs.

When it was announced that the Arizona Cardinals were releasing receiver DeAndre Hopkins rather than landing a trade with someone, speculation immediately ran rampant.

Seemingly every Super Bowl contender was linked to the veteran play-maker, with signing him viewed by some as the move to get teams not named the Kansas City Chiefs over the hump in the playoffs.

Among the teams linked to Hopkins has been the Buffalo Bills, who are considered one of the favorites to sign him. However, even if they do sign him, former NFL defensive lineman Gerald McCoy revealed his thoughts on how signing Hopkins impacts Buffalo come the playoffs on Good Morning Football.

"I don’t think offense has really been an issue," McCoy said. "They get to the moment and just don’t get it done. When you get to the playoffs, that’s where everybody elevates their game. Buffalo has to get to that moment and just has to elevate their game. Who wouldn’t want DHop? But I don’t think that’s the reason that puts them over the top."

On paper the Bills already boast one of the NFL's best offenses. An MVP caliber quarterback-receiver duo in Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs, complemented by Gabe Davis and Dalton Knox, not many teams can keep up with that come the postseason.

To McCoy, though, the offense is not the issue in Buffalo. He offered his explanation as to why the Bills keep coming up just short in the playoffs each season.

"I don’t believe it’s an offense thing, I think it’s a focus thing," McCoy said. "When it’s time to focus, learning when to be the Buffalo Bills. Regular season is great. But to really be that team, you can’t every year get to this point and be like, ‘Well, we don’t know what it is’ or ‘We have to figure a way to get over the hump.'"

McCoy could ultimately be right, and it could just be a "focus" issue keeping Buffalo from winning it all. Even if that is the case, though, signing Hopkins should still be explored.

That being said, bringing in Hopkins does not guarantee the Bills a ring - but it certainly would not hurt their chances, either.
