Bills 'Unanimous' Choice to Sign Cowboys Ex Ezekiel Elliott - Report

Former Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has been connected to the Buffalo Bills via betting odds, though this often doesn't mean too much. However, maybe this situation is becoming the exception.

The Buffalo Bills have yet to see their running back room officially undergo any of the changes that were expected this offseason.

But now, there's reportedly little doubt that a certain move could soon be coming.

The Bills are reportedly a "unanimous" choice among teams and agents to sign former Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott, per reports from Heavy Sports NFL reporter Matt Lombardo.

"Team, agent sources almost unanimously: Watch for Bills," Lombardo tweeted Friday. "Reasoning on the Bills, from league source 'Buffalo is looking for a big back, and Zeke checks that box.'"

As we've already covered here at BillsCentral.com, Elliott has been connected to the Bills via betting odds, though this often doesn't mean too much. However, maybe this situation is becoming the exception.

And while he likely wouldn't be a RB1 with the Bills should he sign with them, Elliott can still bring a ton of value to a contender.

From a personnel standpoint, a running back of Elliott's makeup could be a fit that makes sense for Buffalo.

A big, bruising back that can handle short-yardage situations would take some of the load off of quarterback Josh Allen, who is constantly putting his body on the line due to his dual-threat ability. While he's not taking this completely out of his game any time soon, having Elliott there to take some of the heat would be better for the offense in the long run.

And though Elliott isn't the player he once was, he's still a savvy veteran with experience that isn't easy to replicate through other free agency signings. His awareness in pass protection could also prove to be huge for Allen and the offense for a pass-happy Bills team.

Time in free agency will tell if the Bills make the predictions of these sources come true by signing Elliott.
