Bills Josh Allen Ranked by Peers; Top 3 QB?

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is third to Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow.

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen can be a hot topic, depending on who you are talking to. And according to the conversation among NFL executives, coaches, scouts and players (arguably the most-educated opinions), Allen is a top-10 quarterback in the league.

In a poll of the NFL's top quarterbacks by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the two-time Pro Bowler ranked as third-best, where he was also ranked last season. The poll stated that Allen's ballots were substantially more than the quarterbacks ranked Nos. 4-10 in the voting, but far behind Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow.

Last season, Allen accumulated his third straight season with over 4,000 passing yards, 35 or more passing touchdowns, and six or more rushing touchdowns while leading Buffalo to its third consecutive AFC East division title. Though the Bills' postseason run was halted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the Divisional Round, hopes are high for this season.

Allen leads the NFL with 130 offensive touchdowns since 2020. Allen finished with 5,000-plus offensive yards and 40-plus touchdowns in back-to-back seasons. He is a main reason for Buffalo's resurgence in the AFC against elite quarterback competition.

Mahomes topped the poll as the league's best quarterback. Last season, Mahomes won his second regular-season MVP, his second Super Bowl MVP and his second Lombardi Trophy. Expectations remain high for the reigning Super Bowl champion Chiefs, who are favorites to again win the title.

Allen has led Buffalo to the playoffs in four consecutive seasons, winning the AFC East the last three. Can he and the Bills push deeper into the postseason this year and reach their ultimate goal? They will likely have to get past Mahomes and Burrow to do so.
