Bills Re-Sign DT Jordan Phillips to Deal

The Buffalo Bills are retaining a familiar face, as the team is reportedly re-signing defensive tackle Jordan Phillips to a one-year, $3 million deal, per multiple reports.

Phillips will now look to continue his second stint with the Bills after he had originally played with Buffalo for two seasons after being claimed off waivers in Oct. 2018. However, he then played the 2020 and 2021 seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, which halted what could've potentially been a five-year stretch in Buffalo.

If the Bills can get Phillips to play anywhere close to his 2019 form, the defensive line will be in solid shape next season. That year, he posted a career-high in sacks (9.5) and total tackles (31) while playing in 16 games for just the second time in his career.

However, in the years since, he's failed to reach similar statistical production, though much of this has been due to injury. This past season in Buffalo, Phillips appeared in 12 games before finishing with 20 total tackles and 1.5 sacks. He later revealed that he had been playing with a torn rotator cuff, which required offseason surgery.

But looking to get back at full health, Phillips will be key on a defense that will also be returning vets like Von Miller, Jordan Poyer and Matt Milano.
