Potential Browns Draft Target Josh Downs believes in himself, proves his explosiveness at NFL Combine

If available at No. 42 overall, North Carolina wide receiver Josh Downs could be a player the Browns target to help bring additional explosiveness to the offensive side of the ball.

It's no secret that the Browns are going to improve at the wide receiver position this off-season to add to Amari Cooper and Donovan Peoples-Jones. How they'll go about doing so remains a question.

Last off-season, the Browns wide receiver room was headlined by Cooper, who the Browns traded for in mid-March.

The Browns have options through trade, free agency and the draft to add additional pieces to the room.

While the Browns could pursue a veteran receiver through the trade market, like DeAndre Hopkins, the 2023 NFL Draft class also offers a plethora of good options at the wide receiver position.

One option is the 5-foot-9, 171-pound Downs from UNC. Downs is a shorter receiver but his explosiveness makes up for the lack of height.

Downs formally met with the Browns during the week in Indianapolis. Going into the combine, Downs just wanted to see his hard work pay off.

Downs also talked about what he wants other NFL teams to know about him.

"When you need a play, come to Josh Downs."

If Downs is not available when the Browns pick for the first time in the draft, there will be plenty of other strong options for them to consider.

At the combine this week, there were talks about how deep the current draft class is at the position, which will allow for the Browns to have plenty of options top choose from.

Downs is expected to be drafted within the first round or two, and is the type of explosive player the Browns could add to their offense to pair with Cooper and Peoples-Jones.
