Browns Bringing On Former Titans HC Mike Vrabel As A Consultant

After failing to earn a head coaching job this cycle ex-Titans head coach Mike Vrabel is returning to Ohio as a consultant alongside Andrew Berry and Kevin Stefanski.

Mike Vrabel is returning to Ohio, just not in the role some may have hoped.

Despite plenty of public pleas for Vrabel to return to his Alma mater and become the head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Vrabel is headed a little further north. Multiple reports indicate the former Titans head coach is landing on his feet with the Browns, as he'll join Andrew Berry and Kevin Stefanski as a consultant for the organization.

Based on the reporting, Vrabel is expected to provide his expertise from both a roster personnel and coaching standpoint. ESPN's Adam Schefter was the first to report the addition.

Vrabel was thought to be one of the hottest coaching candidates available this offseason after he was fired by the Titans following a 6-11 season. A market never seemed to materialize for Vrabel though and it looked like he'd be spending the 2024 season away from the game.

That won't be the case anymore as he now has the opportunity to return to his home state and add another job to his resume ahead of the 2025 hiring cycle. Linking up with Cleveland will also reunite Vrabel with Jim Schwartz, who served on Vrabel's staff in Tennessee as a senior defensive consultant for two seasons from 2021-2022.

The former NFL linebacker hails from Akron, Ohio and attended Walsh Jesuit High School in Cuyahoga Falls. He then went on to become a standout linebacker at Ohio State before being drafted by the Steelers in 1997.

Vrabel is most recognized from his days playing with the Patriots, where he won three Super Bowls during the first dynastic run by the franchise in the early 2000s.

The 48-year-old has been on the record saying he grew up a Browns fan. Now he'll get a chance to work for his hometown team.
