Vegas Gives Browns Biggest Rival The Best Odds To Land Veteran Quarterback

In this story:
Rumors are swirling about what quarterback room of the Browns biggest rival, Pittsburgh, could look like in 2024.
A couple weeks back, Titans FA quarterback Ryan Tannehill was linked to the Steelers by the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. That was a name also mentioned by Adam Schefter as well, but ESPN's insider also brought up Bears QB Justin Fields and Broncos veteran Russell Wilson as options for Pittsburgh as well.
As the powers that be in Las Vegas put betting odds on the possibility of any of those QBs ending up in the Steel City, Wilson has emerged as a potential front runner. According to Draft Kings, the Steelers are listed at -250 to add the Super Bowl Champion to their quarterback room this offseason, by far the best odds of any of the other potential suitors.
4 Burning Browns Questions, Including How They'll Handle Jack Conklin's Return?
Wilson's anticipated departure from Denver centers around $37 million in guaranteed salary fro 2025 that kicks in officially on March 17. That figure, which was guaranteed for injury, led to Broncos head coach Sean Payton benching Wilson late in the season to avoid any risk of having to pay that money to former Seahawk. That decision has clouded his future with the franchise though as reports surfaced over the weekend that he was looking to sell his house in the area.
If the Broncos can't find a trade partner for Wilson prior to that March 17th deadline, they'll likely be forced to bite the bullet and release him altogether. For them, that comes with a lofty dead cap hit, which is of benefit to whatever team he ends up with next cause it could mean he agrees to sign somewhere for the vet minimum of $1.21 million.
How Does Rumored NFL Salary Cap Increase Impact The Browns In 2024?
For what it's worth, the Raiders are listed as the next likely team to acquire Wilson, followed by the Falcons at +650. Wilson may not be the top 10 quarterback he once was but he'd still represent an upgrade at the position for Pittsburgh, making them a bigger threat to the Browns and the rest of their AFC North rivals.
