ARIZONA -- We're one week out from the 2024 NFL Draft, and the Arizona Cardinals still sit with the No. 4 overall pick at their disposal.

That likely won't change until the Cardinals are on the clock and teams are trying their best to get GM Monti Ossenfort to move off the pick.

Time will tell if Arizona will ultimately stay or move down, putting an end to discourse that's followed the draft for months now.

It appears the Denver Broncos are ready to make quite the offer, though.

"Once again, there's talk that the Broncos will dangle cornerback Patrick Surtain II as part of a trade package to trade up for a quarterback," said NFL insider Tony Pauline.

"In a bit of irony, the teams at the top of the draft that are expected to be willing to trade down, the Arizona Cardinals (fourth pick) and Los Angeles Chargers (fifth pick), need a cornerback. Any package to move up will include at least one future first-round pick as well as Surtain and the 12th selection in this year's draft."

The Broncos - who sent Russell Wilson packing to free agency - are in need of a quarterback and could be looking to target Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy in trade-up. Oregon QB Bo Nix has also been a popular name involved with Denver.

The Cardinals would very much welcome Surtain - who just turned 24 and has already established himself as one of the top players at his position, along with an extra first-round pick. One Broncos source told us framework for a potential Cardinals deal was laid out at the NFL Owner's Meetings, where Payton offered the following comments on potentially moving up:

“I think it’s realistic. What’s hard to predict, though, is like what’s on the receiving end? I think it’s good to be Monti today, at Arizona," Payton said. "It’s hard to predict what that cost is, and yet I certainly wouldn’t say it’s unrealistic. We’ll pay close attention to it.”

The Minnesota Vikings are also rumored to be interested in moving up, and the reported asking price from Arizona is three first-round picks. NFL insider Peter Schrager recently constructed a mock draft where the New York Giants did business with the Cardinals as well.

The closer we get, the more desperate teams and offers get.

Buckle up.
