Cardinals Reportedly Will Request to Interview Eagles DC Jonathan Gannon

The Arizona Cardinals will reportedly look to interview Philadelphia Eagles DC Jonathan Gannon after the Super Bowl, according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport.

PHOENIX -- Super Bowl LVII is here, and the Arizona Cardinals will be keeping a watchful eye for a few reasons.

The game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will be held at State Farm Stadium, yet owner Michael Bidwill and general manager Monti Ossenfort will be keeping a watchful eye on action for a few different reasons.

Their next head coach potentially is coaching in this game.

According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the Cardinals are expected to interview Eagles DC Jonathan Gannon.

"The Cardinals and Colts have both waited to hire head coaches until after today's Super Bowl, choosing to be patient while also allowing the NFL world to focus on its biggest event," said Rapoport.

"However, sources say there is a larger and more important reason for the wait.

"Arizona plans to interview Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon on Monday, as he'll stay in town after the game no matter the result.

"While it's no slam dunk Gannon gets the job, he is considered to be a top candidate -- one worth waiting weeks to speak with. The young, dynamic coordinator also was a finalist for the Texans each of the past two years before they hired Lovie Smith and DeMeco Ryans, respectively."

Early in the week, Mike Kafka and Lou Anarumo had their second interviews with the Cardinals. Reports leaked that the team would make their decision on Tuesday. If that holds and Gannon only gets interviewed on Monday, he would be the lone of the three candidates with a second interview.

Arizona and Indianapolis are the only two teams left without a head coach.
