Cardinals Sign CB Rashad Fenton

The Arizona Cardinals have signed former Kansas City Chiefs CB Rashad Fenton.

PHOENIX -- A typically quiet offseason for the Arizona Cardinals was temporarily put on hold after the team knocked the dust off the transaction wire to announce the signing of CB Rashad Fenton on a one-year contract, according to the team.

"Fenton (5-11, 193) spent his first three plus seasons (2019-22) in the league with the Kansas City Chiefs and played in 47 games (16 starts), collecting 121 tackles (94 solo), two interceptions, 20 passes defensed, two forced fumbles, and one tackle for loss to go along with six special teams tackles," said the team's official release on the move.

The 26-year old Fenton entered the league with Kansas City as a sixth-round selection (201st overall) in the 2019 NFL Draft from South Carolina and also appeared in six postseason games with the Chiefs, including playing in Super Bowl LIV and LV. He spent the 2022 season with both Kansas City (five games) and Atlanta (two games) after he was traded to the Falcons last November."

Fenton is the first outside free agent cornerback the Cardinals have signed since Byron Murphy left for the Minnesota Vikings. Arizona also re-signed CB Antonio Hamilton in free agency.

With Josh Jackson still a pending free agent from last year, here's Arizona's current CB room:

Marco Wilson
Antonio Hamilton
Rashad Fenton
Nate Hairston
Christian Matthew

The Cardinals could potentially acquire one of the top corners in the 2023 NFL Draft, especially if they trade down from the No. 3 pick.

Earlier this week at the NFL annual meetings, Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said he felt good about the pieces he added.

"You don't win any games in free agency, I know that," he told reporters.

"So I feel really good about the pieces that we added. We had a very clear vision of why we added them. We know why they know why they're coming here, which is huge to me. They know their role and what we're going to ask them to do and how we're going to ask them to fit in. I'm excited to get to work with those guys."
