Cardinals Offensive Snap Count Analysis vs Chiefs

In this story:
The dust has now settled from the Arizona Cardinals' 38-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in preseason Week 2 action, and fans in the red sea were happy to finally see the game clock hit zero after a long night of Chiefs dominance.
It took Patrick Mahomes and company time to get rolling, though Kansas City managed to squeeze in a touchdown in the final moments of the first quarter and never looked back.
In total, Kansas City's quarterbacks went 31/38 for 393 yards and three passing touchdowns - with another touchdown ran in on the ground.
"We got to get cleaned up or that's what's gonna happen against a good football team - you're gonna get beat pretty good," Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon said following the loss.
"It'll be very black and white to our guys what we need to improve in a hurry, and we have to improve that going to Minnesota for those practices and the game so we can be a little more competitive."
While the Cardinals move forward to preparations for Minnesota, let's take a look at their offensive snap counts from Week 2:
Cardinals Offensive Snap Count Analysis
QB Clayton Tune (49)
QB Colt McCoy (15)
QB David Blough (8)
The Cardinals again only played three quarterbacks as Jeff Driskel continues to be held out of play due to injury.
Tune occupied a massive majority of snaps
"I think he needs the reps... For being a rookie quarterback, he needs the reps to be able to see different things," said Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon.
"Spags is really one of the best defensive coordinators there is, so he gave us a lot of looks... I thought he handled it well. He changed a couple of protections, changed some points in the run game. Missed a couple, too. ... I wanted to see him play."
McCoy didn't overly impress in his action while Blough was again on clean-up duty.
RB Keaontay Ingram (23)
RB Emari Demercado (21)
RB Corey Clement (17)
RB James Conner (11)
Conner saw his first taste of action in the preseason and likely could see ramped up snaps next week in the finale. The RB2 battle continues and Ingram saw the most action along with making the most impact.
“I thought he looked good. Made some runs and made a couple of guys miss. That touchdown run was pretty special so it was good to have him back in there," said Gannon.
"That was his first exposure in a live game. I know he was lattered up pretty good, he had a good attitude, he did a good job."
WR Andre Baccellia (43)
WR Kaden Davis (39)
WR Davion Davis (29)
WR Zach Pascal (22)
WR Greg Dortch (19)
WR Michael Wilson (14)
WR Marquise Brown (10)
WR Rondale Moore (9)
WR Daniel Arias (8)
The receiving corps has essentially settled itself, most notably with the emergence of Michael Wilson from Day 2 pick to likely starter come opening day. Marquise Brown and Rondale Moore will be the other two starters.
Dortch - who is fighting for playing time himself as a backup slot WR - had a touchdown ruled back despite a strong effort.
“Yeah, I thought it was good. He is tough and scrappy. They ended up calling that one back, that was the review, but then we punched it in there so that was a good play by him," said Gannon.
TE Blake Whiteheart (33)
TE Noah Togiai (25)
TE Trey McBride (13)
TE Joel Honigford (10)
TE Geoff Swaim (9)
TE Bernhard Seikovits (5)
McBride made his preseason debut with Zach Ertz's return coming soon. Beyond those two, anybody can claim the spot for TE3 duties in Arizona. Noah Togiai has battled to earn that opportunity though a crucial drop wasn't the best endorsement last night.
When healthy, that probably belongs to Swaim.
LT Jackson Barton (38)
LT D.J. Humphries (11)
LT Kelvin Beachum (19)
LG Dennis Daley (49)
LG Elijah Wilkinson (15)
C Jon Gaines (49)
C Hayden Howerton (8)
C Hjalte Froholdt (15)
RG Marquis Hayes (57)
RG Will Hernandez (15)
RG Lecitus Smith (8)
RT Josh Jones (53)
RT Paris Johnson (15)
RT Badara Traore (8)
The Cardinals deployed 14 offensive linemen on Saturday night, and only three failed to reach double-digit snaps.
By now, it appears Elijah Wilkinson has a strong grip on the left guard spot, though Dennis Daley has been Arizona's extra offensive lineman in most heavy packages.
Kelvin Beachum got time at left tackle while Josh Jones played at right tackle, swapping sides from last week and displaying versality for both players.
