B/R Says Cardinals Must Make This Change

The Arizona Cardinals are just 1-2 on the 2023 season thus far but have impressed nearly everybody.

The offense has seemingly improved on a weekly basis under quarterback Josh Dobbs, as the Cardinals have found their footing after scoring 28 points in what's now been back-to-back games.

Part of their success has been their ability to establish the run, as James Conner was a mere two yards away from his second 100-yard performance in three weeks to begin the season.

Yet it was the spark of Rondale Moore on the ground in last week's upset victory against the Dallas Cowboys that extended their lead to two possessions in the first half.

It's also sparked a change for the future Arizona needs to make, according to Bleacher Report.

"This season, Moore has carried the ball five times for 66 yards and caught eight passes for 55. If the Cardinals want to continue winning, they should try mixing the 23-year-old into the backfield rotation even more," wrote Kristopher Knox.

"Arizona lacks playmakers in the passing game, and while quarterback Joshua Dobbs has been mostly fine, the strength of the offense is in the running game.

"Giving opposing defenses different looks with Moore as a runner would help open things up a bit while taking some of the load from James Conner, who ranked third in the NFL with 51 carries through Week 3."

Under previous head coach Kliff Kingsbury, Moore was frequently used on jet sweeps and screen passes at nauseating rates with little success.

However, the new staff has done a great job of shuffling around chess pieces and trying different (but not asinine) looks.

Moore has shown more than capable of doing damage when used vertically in the passing game thanks to his speed. Perhaps the splash play out of the backfield could be the nice wrinkle OC Drew Petzing utilizes more in the future.
