Cardinals Delete Viral Tweet Towards Broncos After Backlash

The Arizona Cardinals' twitter account went a little too far, according to some.

The Arizona Cardinals enjoyed a wild 18-17 win over the Denver Broncos to begin preseason festivities.

It was a game where the Cardinals overcame a double digit deficit at halftime despite not playing a handful of key starters while Denver played theirs. Most notably, the Broncos kept their first team offense in for nearly the entire first half.

After allowing a touchdown with less than two minutes to go, it was David Blough who took the field for Arizona and marched the Cardinals on a ten-play, 75-yard drive to score a touchdown with just two seconds left.

Arizona running back Emari Demercado punched in a two-point conversion to seal the first win of the Jonathan Gannon era.

After the win, the Cardinals' social media team (who does a pretty good job of keeping up with modern times/memes) tweeted a video of the famous "not real" woman on a plane before the camera pans over to Russell Wilson working out in the middle of the walkway.

After gaining over four million views - and quite the backlash - it was eventually deleted this morning.

While we thought it was funny, it apparently was not to others outside of the desert.

Mile High Huddle's Chad Jensen called the tweet "embarrassing" among other adjectives.

"This MEME is frankly embarrassing to the Cardinals. It would be just as cowardly and classless had it been sent after a regular-season game that counted. The fact that the Cardinals aimed low at Wilson on the heels of a meaningless preseason game is quite shameful and embarrassing. It reveals a vacuum of leadership and class within that organization," said Jensen.
