The MVP award in any sport is a prestigious one. However, in the NFL, it normally goes to the best quarterback. Let's not kid ourselves, the award almost always goes to a quarterback and rightfully so because they are the most important players on the field. They dictate everything in a game and are the ones who take the praise or criticism. For the Los Angeles Chargers, their signal caller should be in the running once again.

Since his arrival in Los Angeles, Justin Herbert has taken the league by storm. His ability to throw the ball all over the field had led the Chargers to have one of the best offensive attacks around the game. And it seems that he is finally getting the respect that he deserves. David Latham of Last Word on Sports has Herbert ranked number three in a MVP ranking list for 2023.

Herbert has thrown for over 4,000 yards in all three of his seasons so far and has had at least 25 touchdowns each year as well. As the team heads into 2023, the Chargers offense should be even more explosive. Los Angeles brought in some new weapons for Herbert and a new offensive coordinator in Kellen Moore, who should open the field more for him.

Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Austin Ekeler and new rookie Quentin Johnson headline the offensive alongside Herbert. He should have plenty of tools to work with in order to make the Chargers one of the more feared teams on the offensive side of the ball.

Last season, the Chargers offense went stagnant at times and it really showed in their loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the playoffs. But the hope is that with a new coordinator calling the shots and another year of growth, Herbert can take that next step. The MVP award is calling his name and he just needs to go out and should why he deserves it.
