Sometimes, just holding on to what you have is a win in  itself. The Chargers have not made the biggest moves nor have they gone for the most-cherished names in this free agency period but what they have done is stick to what they know.

Fans have been clamoring for LA to pursue Ezekiel Elliott but there is probably a good reason as to why the Bolts, along with every other team in the league, haven't brought him in yet. They also haven't been quick to just throw out money even to players who they've shown heavy interest in such as John Johnson III.

Instead, LA has opted to invest in guys that they've watched develop these past few seasons such as Donald Parham, Trey Pipkins III, and Morgan Fox. For a squad that improved in virtually everything except certain spots on the defensive end, this will clearly benefit them in 2023.

Shawn Merriman, aka "Lights Out", joined the "Locked On Chargers" podcast and shared everything that he loves so far about the Chargers' offseason. He played the first six seasons of his NFL career with the Bolts.

"I expect to see a very explosive offense this season," said Merriman. "I'm very excited to see the direction this franchise is going in. At a certain point in time, you feel like all the weapons aren't being used and Kellen Moore, even without a ton of talented options at wide receiver in his career, he's been able to open up the offense."

Kellen Moore has widely been regarded as one of the most important additions for the Chargers and Merriman adds himself to the list of those who've vouched for him.

Merriman saw some very productive seasons with the Chargers where he would typically reach double digits in sacks and find himself in the conversations for Defensive Player of the Year.
