In this story:

The Los Angeles Chargers face a very important battle on Sunday Night Football. It isn't the Chicago Bears being superior in any way, but should the Bolts lose again, they might not be able to rebound.

The issue is that there are a multitude of injuries on both sides of the ball for the Bolts. Deane Leonard and Alohi Gilman are both questionable, along with Gerald Everett and Joshua Palmer.

The good news is that Palmer could suit up Sunday, but he will be a game-time decision, according to head coach Brandon Staley.

Palmer was working today during practice, though he was wearing a sleeve on the right knee that he injured. He was also working off to the side with trainers, and not engaging in team drills.

It is only Friday, meaning he has another two full days to get ready. The Chargers will benefit from an evening game on Sunday, meaning more crucial time for Palmer to get ready.

The issue will then become if Staley will allow him to play, or keep him from aggravating an injury he might not be 100% healed from.

Palmer did haul in five catches for a staggering 133 yards when the Chargers and Chiefs played last Sunday. Palmer's explosive play ability makes him a crucial offensive weapon for Herbert, who is also dealing with his own injury.

Hebert has a broken finger which could be the reason why his passes have not been as accurate as they normally are. Either way, the connection between Palmer and Herbert is real, and the passing attack for the Bolts would greatly benefit from Palmer being on the field.

Should the Chargers win in primetime, they would improve to 3-4 and look more like a team that has had a tough early start. But should they lose to an ailing Bears team, they might be pegged as a team not poised for a playoff run.
