The connection between a coaching staff in any sport is critical to the overall success of a team. But this is especially true in the game of football because different coordinators typically have some power in play calling, in addition to the head coach.

If a coach doesn’t trust a coordinator to make the right decision, it could be costly to a team. That underlining trust resonates throughout a locker room and creates a positive environment.

For the Los Angeles Chargers, they welcomed in a new offensive coordinator this offseason in Kellen Moore. Moore comes to LA from the Dallas Cowboys, and he already has made an impact on Bolts head coach Brandon Staley. Staley spoke about his new coordinator in glowing terms.

His relationship with Moore reminds him of what he had with his former boss Sean McVay. They want to build this up together, and it shows in how they are preparing for the season.

“You’re just building. Everything is like a build, and that’s how it was with Sean and I,” Staley said. “You knew that he was up for it. You just knew that he’s up for all of it.”

This is excellent news for the Chargers as they want to make some real noise in the AFC again this season. Led by star quarterback Justin Herbert, LA should be major players for the postseason.

Moore was brought in to help get rid of the stagnant offense that was seen at times last season. Staley understands that it could be some growing pains, but he trusts his guy.

“Playing against him the second time, I was like, ‘He really makes it easy for his guys, but he makes it tough for you,’” Staley said. “That’s what good coaches do.”

Per The Athletic

2023 could be a special season for the Bolts if they can stay healthy. They have a ton of talent on both sides of the ball, and the team has the needed drive to be successful.
