WATCH: Washington Commanders Score After Jamison Crowder Return

Jamison Crowder's return helped put the Washington Commanders in the lead against the Atlanta Falcons.

Washington Commanders receiver Jamison Crowder is in his second stint with the franchise, and his return abilities are a big reason why he returned to the team.

Those abilities were on full display in the second quarter against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday after Crowder returned the ball 61 yards to get inside the red zone.

The return set the Commanders up in fantastic field position, and three plays later, quarterback Sam Howell found running back Antonio Gibson for a 1-yard passing touchdown.

Crowder, 30, was drafted by Washington in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft and played his first four seasons in the league with the team.

Since then, he's bounced around the league playing for the New York Jets (2019-21) and Buffalo Bills (2022).

In March, he signed with the NFC East rival New York Giants, but was part of the team's final roster cuts to shrink to its 53-man roster.

Crowder played in just four games last season after breaking his ankle. He managed to catch just six passes for 60 yards. But if Crowder can be a threat as a return specialist, his career in the NFL may have new life.

Crowder's punt return is the longest for the Washington franchise since he returned an 89-yard touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens back in 2016, arguably the best season of his career so far.

The Commanders hold a 10-7 lead against the Falcons midway through the second quarter.
