Eagles' Boston Scott 'Not Worried' About Roster Spot

Philadelphia Eagles running back Boston Scott isn't worried about competing for a roster spot this offseason, instead just focusing on being the best version of himself.

Philadelphia Eagles running back Boston Scott has been a notable part of the offense for a while now, but he may be fighting just to make the roster this season.

That's not an indictment of Scott's ability, but rather a testament to the talent in the Eagles' running back room. With Scott set to share the backfield with D'Andre Swift, Rashaad Penny, Kenneth Gainwell and Trey Sermon, the competition is very stiff.

Despite the apparent uncertainty surrounding his future in Philadelphia, Scott is keeping a positive mindset through the process. Rather than worrying about his spot on the roster, the 28-year-old is just focusing on factors within his control.

“I’m always going to show up every day, I’m going to give it my best, I’m going to compete the best I can, but as far as expectations? I’m going to leave all that stuff to the guys that are in charge of it," Scott said. "I’m not worried about it. I’m just focused on being the best player that I can be. That’s the way it’s been my whole career. I’m competing against myself. Everything else? Let the cards fall where they may.”

Scott knows what it's like to overcome the odds from experience. He was a 2018 sixth-round pick by the New Orleans Saints, although he never played a game for them before being released that December. With another challenge now in front of him, Scott doesn't plan on backing down any time soon.

“I have a lot of confidence in myself and if anything that brings out the best in me,” Scott said. “I’m never going to back down from a challenge, I’m never going to back down, regardless.

“I don’t care when you were drafted, I don’t care what round, I don’t care what pick. That don’t matter to me. We’re all out here competing. But at the same time I love those guys. They’re all great dudes. I tell them all the time, ‘Let me be a resource for you. If there’s something you don’t understand in the playbook.’ Because I want everybody to be their best.”

Over the last four seasons with the Eagles, Scott has racked up 1,209 yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground, plus 514 yards and another score through the air. While he hasn't been a true star (except against the New York Giants), he has been a notable part of the offense throughout his time in Philly.

Scott may be fighting for his future with the Eagles, but he remains as upbeat as ever and ready to face any challenge.
