Eagles 'Good, Bad or Ugly!' Fletcher Cox Reveals QB Jalen Hurts’ No. 1 Asset

In this story:
For whatever lack of buy-in from teammates existed when Carson Wentz was the quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles, Jalen Hurts appears to have the opposite perception in the locker room.
Fletcher Cox -- back after re-signing for $10 million over taking an offer with the New York Jets -- recently appeared on former Eagles pass rusher Chris Long's podcast. Notably, the longest-tenured Eagle had nothing but good things to say about Hurts.
"Whether it's good or bad, or it could get ugly -- He stays calm, he remains the same," Cox told Long. "That's what I respect about Jalen."
In his second full season as the starter for the Eagles, Hurts finished as the NFL MVP runner-up, tossing 22 touchdowns and adding another 13 scores as a rusher. Though his second quarter fumble proved to be crucial, Hurts was largely excellent in Super Bowl LVII: he threw a touchdown and ran for three as well in a 38-35 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
While Hurts has already done enough to earn a second contract, Cox is eager to see how the former second-round pick continues to develop.
"His main goal is to be the best quarterback and the best teammate he can be," Cox said. "Me and Jalen have talks all the time just about little stuff — it's only his second year really being a starting quarterback. I'm excited to watch him keep growing."
For at least another season, Cox and Hurts will be teammates. Perhaps the final act of Cox's decorated Eagles career will be watching Hurts hoist the Lombardi Trophy.
