Eagles QB Jalen Hurts Reveals Why He's Hungry For More: 'That's the Thrill!'

After a breakout season in which he nearly led the Philadelphia Eagles to a Super Bowl title, quarterback Jalen Hurts is still out to prove himself at every turn

After showing glimpses of greatness in his first two seasons, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts fully broke out in 2022.

The Eagles' star emerged as one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the league, recording nearly 4,500 total yards and 35 total touchdowns. He finished as the runner-up in MVP voting, and led the Eagles within seconds of a Super Bowl title. After bursting onto the scene in style, Hurts earned a mammoth contract extension that makes him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league.

Hurts faced many questions when he came into the NFL, but he has continuously proved the doubters wrong. Even after such a breakout performance, Hurts is still always looking to better himself. In fact, the Eagles quarterback said he thoroughly enjoys chasing greatness at every turn.

“Everybody aspires to be the best and works to be the best, but ultimately you have to find some separation,” Hurts said on the AP Pro Football Podcast. “And that’s the thrill. There’s a thrill in not being satisfied and there’s a thrill in being on this journey, and I have embraced that. I love this game and I know my purpose within this game. I truly just want to be intentional."

If Hurts truly does have more room to grow, then the rest of the league may be in trouble. On the other hand, the Eagles and their fans would be thrilled to see their star quarterback perform even better than he did last season. Offensive coordinator Brian Johnson believes the sky is the limit for his quarterback, and Hurts' work ethic shows that potential.

“We’ll never put a ceiling on what he can accomplish,” Johnson said via the AP. “I think with Jalen, nothing that he ever does will surprise me. He works like a madman. He’s very, very diligent. He’s very intentional about what he wants, and that shows on a daily basis in how he operates.”

Hurts has clearly thrived off of his work ethic, and that is no different even after his breakout season.
