Here's a first look (probably) at the kelly green alternate uniforms that the Philadelphia Eagles will wear in 2023.

While professional teams usually try to make uniform releases into an event that they can parlay into more social media followers, we've learned both through MLB's "City Connect" program and the now-defunct NFL "Color Rush" campaign that new jerseys often come to light first by accident.

That appears to be the case with the Philadelphia Eagles, who will be wearing kelly green uniforms as an alternate for to-be-announced games during the 2023 season. But while the Eagles haven't yet officially released images of the latest iterations of the popular uniforms, Uni Watch -- the authority on such matters -- obtained retail leaks of a Jalen Hurts kelly green jersey that appear to be what the team will don on the field:

The last time that the Eagles wore any variation of kelly green came in Week 1 of the 2010 season, as Michael Vick re-emerged as a star in a game where Philadelphia honored the 50th anniversary of their NFL Championship victory over the Green Bay Packers.

However, that was a lighter shade of kelly green than these leaks:

As noted in the Uni Watch piece, these leaks look more in line with the shade of kelly green that the Eagles wore from 1985 through 1995, the final season before midnight green became the team's primary color:

While we would argue that the version worn in 2010 is more by-the-book kelly green, there's little doubt that the shade worn from 1985-1995 was sharp, and would be an excellent re-addition to the uniform rotation for the Eagles. It's unclear when the team plans to officially unveil the kelly green uniforms, helmets and pants they will wear in 2023.
