Eagles vs. Giants on Black Friday? NFL Schedule Rumor

A new rumor suggests the Philadelphia Eagles could travel to play the New York Giants in the NFL's first-ever Black Friday game.

NFL fans won't have to wait much longer to find out who their favorite team is playing when. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the league is set to announce its 2023 schedule on May 11, just over a week away.

The league likes to keep fans on their toes, so there are a couple new wrinkles with the schedule in 2023. Most notably, the league will play a game on Black Friday for the first time ever, set for 3 p.m. ET on Nov. 24 with coverage on Amazon Prime Video. According to Peter King of Football Morning of America, the Philadelphia Eagles may be a part of that game.

And their rumored matchup? A road game against the division rival New York Giants. Although not final, King says that Eagles-Giants is "the leader in the clubhouse."

"I think, with the schedule due to be announced the second week of May—in other words, next week—this is the column, maybe nine or 10 days out, when I usually have a good feeling about some of the tentpole games," King said. "This year, I have no gut feeling about any of them, except maybe the Black Friday game. The first game ever on Friday afternoon after Thanksgiving is a very big deal for Amazon on the biggest shopping day of the year. I think the leader in the clubhouse for that game is Eagles-Giants. Absolutely not set in stone, though."

As NFC East rivals, the Eagles and Giants are very used to each other. That was especially true last season, as they played each other three times with Philadelphia winning all of them. The final of those three games was a 38-7 drubbing in the NFC Divisional Round that ended New York's season.

If this rumor holds true, the Eagles would look to extend their winning streak against their rivals in the NFL's Black Friday debut.
