LOOK: Falcons Talk with Alabama RB Jahmyr Gibbs at Pro Day

Atlanta Falcons scout Shepley Heard spoke with Alabama running back and projected top-50 draft pick Jahmyr Gibbs at his Pro Day.

The Atlanta Falcons are in the midst of completing the Pro Day ringer leading up to the 2023 NFL Draft, set to take place Apr. 27-29 in Kansas City, Mo.

The Falcons' latest stop was the University of Alabama, where quarterback Bryce Young, outside linebacker Will Anderson Jr., safety Brian Branch and running back Jahmyr Gibbs were among those who worked out.

Atlanta had multiple staff members in attendance, including director of player personnel Kyle Smith and scout Shepley Heard - who was pictured speaking with Gibbs during the showcase.

The Falcons held a formal meeting with Gibbs, a native of Dalton, Georgia, earlier this month at the NFL Scouting Combine, where he ran a 4.36 40-yard dash.

Gibbs, 21, started his career at Georgia Tech before transferring to Alabama last offseason, proceeding to earn second-team All-SEC as both a running back and all-purpose player after logging 44 receptions, the second-most by a runner in Crimson Tide history.

A projected second-round pick, Gibbs shared at the Combine that he believes New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara is his best comparison; Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot was in New Orleans when Kamara was drafted and watched as he turned into one of the league's most dynamic playmaker.

Should the Falcons bring Gibbs back to the state of Georgia, he'd form a thunder and lightning duo with Tyler Allgeier, who broke the franchise's rookie rushing record with 1,035 yards on the ground this past season.

The 5-11, 224-pound Allgeier has the power and physicality to match nicely with Gibbs' explosiveness and lateral quickness, giving Falcons coach Arthur Smith a fun young pairing to rely on moving forward.

Atlanta ranked No. 3 league-wide in rushing at just under 160 yards per game, and with Gibbs in the fold, would have a chance to exceed the mark next season.

But for now, it's merely meetings and discussions - with a final answer coming in late April.
