The Atlanta Falcons visit the Arizona Cardinals desperate to end a three-game losing streak. Meanwhile, the Cardinals are also searching for their second win of the season.
For live updates and fan reaction, stay tuned to our chat all evening:
Why do we have replay if we aren't going to change calls that are wrong?
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 13, 2019
And I get that we want CLEAR video evidence, but let's use our common sense here. It's not physically possible that Murray's arm is at the 30-yard line on that play. https://t.co/aXpPn7tsOu
My gosh, that ball never makes it to the 30-yard line.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 13, 2019
His feet are at the 30 and his arm is reaching behind him. Costs #Falcons a chance at another possession to win.
Devonta Freeman WIDE OPEN on a screen pass. TD. But extra point is yanked to the left.#Falcons still trail 34-33. Unbelievable.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 13, 2019
Dan Quinn's job on the line in the final two minutes & potentially OT. #Falcons
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 13, 2019
Another Vic Beasley sighting on that drive, but not a good one. Committing two penalties on the same play is impressive tho. #Falcons #Riseup
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 13, 2019
There was no contact at all on that Arz fair catch signal.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 13, 2019
Just makes me wonder why the NFL has a subjective penalty like PI as the only one coaches can challenge.
Video clearly shows that's not a penalty & replay could fix it.
#Falcons bailed out on third down with drop from Pharoh Cooper. Would have been conversion for ARZ. But ATL will take it.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 13, 2019
Ryan and O right back onto the field.
Austin Hooper is a Top 5 TE in the NFL right now #Riseup
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 13, 2019
But Cardinals haven't done well covering tight ends all season. Matt Ryan needs to keep feeding him.
Tight End Austin Hooper having a Pro Bowl season for the Falcons.
— Tom Pollin (@tjpollin) October 13, 2019
#Falcons may have just played their best two defensive series of the season.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 13, 2019
ATL has a chance to tie the game with a touchdown on this next possession. #Riseup
#Falcons not dead yet. Defense gets a stop & ATL scores TD to pull within 7. 27-20.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 13, 2019
Entire quarter still to be played. #Riseup
Matt Ryan misses an open Calvin Ridley on third down. ATL settles for FG.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 13, 2019
I'm completely off the "blame Ryan" for the 1-5 start bandwagon, but that is a throw a MVP QB needs to make when the team is struggling so badly.
I picked the Falcons to win today because I expected them to show some fight with their season on the line. This team has nothing. Going to 1-5 in the NFC South means you can start talking draft.
— Tom Pollin (@tjpollin) October 13, 2019
Another below average offense & struggling QB having an absolute DAY against the #Falcons defense.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 13, 2019
#Falcons get a stop on third down but not on fourth.... https://t.co/SriSxBlCpz
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 13, 2019
Isaiah Oliver is so overmatched at cornerback it's pitiful.
— Tom Pollin (@tjpollin) October 13, 2019
#Falcons have given up 892 yards of offense in their last six quarters.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 13, 2019
That's almost 150 yards per quarter. Just disgustingly bad. https://t.co/01k3hjhE2o
Kyler Murray went 16 of 19 for 240 yards and a TD in the first half. Averaging 12.6 yards per pass.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 13, 2019
His three incompletions were a spike to stop the clock, miscommunication to Fitzgerald where he didn't look back for pass, and a batted ball at line.
Matt Bryant ends the #Cardinals onslaught (for now) w/ a FG.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 13, 2019
But as in weeks past, it feels like #Falcons need TDs on every drive because of their defensive struggles.
Asking the question again, where's the physical play from that defense Quinn. Getting pushed around now.
— Tom Pollin (@tjpollin) October 13, 2019
I still think the #Falcons were robbed of a fumble recovery in the end zone.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 13, 2019
Whether or not that missed call is bothering them, I can't tell watching on TV. But D has to put that behind them. The floodgates have opened up since then & again Matt Ryan and O faces big deficit.
Poor communication, busted coverages & TERRIBLE tackling on that defensive drive.#Falcons give up another TD. ARZ 17-7.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 13, 2019
How the hell does the Falcons defense blow so badly that there's no one within 40 yards of Johnson.
— Tom Pollin (@tjpollin) October 13, 2019
Cardinals gifted a touchdown there. No other way to put it.
— Tom Pollin (@tjpollin) October 13, 2019
#Falcons playing some pretty tough goal-line defense, but RB Chase Edmunds finds some room in the flat & scores the TD on third down.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 13, 2019
ARZ has its first lead. 10-7. #Riseup
Call stands. Don't like that call AT ALL.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 13, 2019
Neither does NFL officiating expert Mike Pereira. But #Cardinals have ball at 2. https://t.co/cRunYxLcWr
Murray the third most sacked QB in the league heading into today. Another sackless Sunday for the Falcons defense is unacceptable.
— Tom Pollin (@tjpollin) October 13, 2019
Takk McKinley can't finish the sack on Kyler Murray.#Falcons pass rush is close, but must find a way to get home.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 13, 2019
Penalties bog down #Falcons second drive. Leads to punt.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 13, 2019
Murray will get his second crack at the ATL D starting at his own 14-yard line.
Cardinals settle for FG attempt. A win for #Falcons defense.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 13, 2019
ATL ahead 7-3. 5:41 left in 1st Q.
Can't blame Oliver for that catch. Tight coverage and Murray dropped in perfectly. Couldn't have been a better pass.
— Tom Pollin (@tjpollin) October 13, 2019
I'd imagine that's why Dan Quinn elected to receive.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 13, 2019
The way the D has played, didn't want to fall in a hole again early.
Ryan & O go right down field & #Falcons have early lead #Riseup 7-0.
Matt Ryan involving five receivers on that opening-drive TD, including his newest target Kaleb McGary!#Riseup #Falcons
