Falcons Newly-Signed LB Kaleb Elliss Appears on 'All-Breakout Team'

In this story:
There's understandably quite a bit of buzz around the Atlanta Falcons offseason additions of safety Jessie Bates III and running back Bijan Robinson, but there's a third new face that could be at the forefront of helping head coach Arthur Smith's squad compete for the NFC South title in 2023.
In March, the Falcons lured linebacker Kaden Elliss away from the New Orleans Saints, signing him to a three-year, $21.5 million deal that guarantees him $10.2 million.
And NFL.com recently listed the 27-year-old on his "All-Breakout Team" for 2023 ...
"The former special teams standout created a buzz in league circles last season with his strong performance as New Orleans' third linebacker and emergency fill-in for Pete Werner," NFL.com writes. "Elliss notched six of his seven sacks over the Saints' final nine games, showing the football world that he could thrive as a full-time starter. The former seventh-round pick could put up the kind of numbers that make him a household name by the end of the 2023 season."
A seventh-round pick out of Idaho in the 2019 NFL Draft, Elliss accumulated 78 combined tackles, 10 quarterback hits, seven tackles for a loss, seven sacks and two forced fumbles in 2023, despite starting just 11 games for the Saints.
The aforementioned Bates and cornerback A.J. Terrell are two of the faces of Atlanta's defense currently, but new defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen -- also coming over to the Falcons from New Orleans -- will have an interesting group to work with. In addition to Bates and Elliss, the Falcons also acquired cornerback Jeff Okudah (once a top-five pick) from the Detroit Lions and signed pass rusher Calais Campbell, a six-time Pro Bowler with 99 career sacks on his resume. And you can't forget about defensive tackle Grady Jarrett, who is back for ninth season in Atlanta.
