BREAKING: Alvin Kamara Ruling on Nightclub Beating; Will NFL Suspend?

In this story:

Alvin Kamara is apparently going to avoid getting in more trouble with the law as a result of his "nightclub beating" case. But does that the New Orleans Saints star is cleared to play against the Atlanta Falcons and the rest of the NFL in the 2023 NFL season?

Not quite yet, even though the misdemeanor charge news is now being updated. Kamara has agreed to plead no contest to the charge of "breach of peace" as a result of the Las Vegas fight, and he will also be ordered to perform community service and to pay $100,000 for the medical bills of his victim.

Kamara was involved in an incident at a Las Vegas nightclub following the 2022 NFL Pro Bowl where he was viewed via video punching a man eight times. The NFL, it seems, didn't act during the year and a half that the courts dealt with the issue, the league possibly choosing to wait until after their ruling.

It may help Kamara's argument with the league that his initial charge was "conspiracy to commit battery and battery resulting in substantial bodily harm." But the NFL bylaws on behavior are very loose and open to interpretation by the commissioner's office ... and therefore commissioner Roger Goodell could opt to discipline Kamara as a result of his actions.

Kamara, one of the NFL's most dynamic running backs, will surely hope that the NFL slaps him on the wrist with a fine. But opponents in the NFC South and beyond will also be watching to see if the punishment handed out to Kamara, if any, includes suspension from games - a league decision that could alter the balance of power in the division.
