The Tennessee Titans will line up a little different on the defensive side of the ball this weekend when they host the Atlanta Falcons.

That's because they have traded Pro Bowl safety Kevin Byard to the Philadelphia Eagles for two late-round picks and defensive back Terrell Edmunds. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport was the first to report the news of the trade.

This should certainly help the Falcons game plan for the Titans this week. Byard, 30, has been a staple in Tennessee's secondary since he was drafted in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He's started in all six games for the Titans so far this season and has recorded 47 tackles, including 10 in the team's last game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Byard's efforts helped clinch Pro Bowl berths in 2017 and 2021, but he's been effective in every season for the Titans so far in his career.

Now, he joins the Eagles, who currently sit atop the NFC standings with a 6-1 record.

The Titans could see Terrell Edmunds make his team debut on Sunday against the Falcons. Edmunds, a former first-round pick in 2018 by the Pittsburgh Steelers, signed with the Eagles earlier this offseason.

However, Edmunds wasn't able to play up to his hype, starting in just two of the team's seven games so far. But with Byard gone, Edmunds could step into a starting role in Tennessee.

The Falcons and Titans are scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. on Sunday from Nissan Stadium.
