New York Jets Host Offensive Lineman Jordan Morgan for Top-30 Visit

The New York Jets may turn their attention to Arizona Wildcats’ tackle Jordan Morgan as a developmental swing option in the upcoming NFL Draft.

The New York Jets are keeping their options open when it comes to scouting offensive tackle talent in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Despite signing former Dallas Cowboys’ All Pro offensive tackle Tyron Smith to a one-year contract last month, New York still maintains a need for a swing reserve with the potential to be a contributor along the offensive line for many years to come.

In that regard, the Jets will be hosting Arizona offensive tackle Jordan Morgan on a top-30 visit, per Sportskeeda. Though the date of Morgan’s visit has yet to be confirmed, it is expected within the coming days.

Jan 31, 2024; Mobile, AL, USA; Senior Bowl National offensive lineman Jordan Morgan of Arizona (77)

Morgan played five seasons for Arizona, appearing in 41 games (37 starts) at left tackle. For his efforts, he earned an honorable mention all-conference nod in 2022 — a season in which he allowed only one sack over 670 total snaps. He also was selected to the first-team All-PAC 12 in 2023, coming off a torn ACL. Morgan’s solid showing at the Senior Bowl elevated his Draft projection to an early Day 2 (or perhaps a late Day 1) selection.

At his best, Morgan uses his 6-5, 311-pound frame in conjunction with impressive athleticism. He has the quickness to be an edge blocker, which could make him a solid tackle at the pro level. However, he has yet to demonstrate consistent physicality. As such, several draft analysts have predicted that Morgan may be a “finesse” tackle, or potentially move inside to guard in the NFL.

For the first time in 13 years, the Jets not only seem poised to erase an embarrassing playoff deficit, but they also have a legitimate chance to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl — thanks to a repaired offense and their stout defense. Adding a tackle of Smith’s caliber to protect quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ blind side will allow the 40-year-old both the time and space he needs to operate at a high level.

Still, the ex-Cowboys legend is signed for one year. As such, they will need to add sustainable depth for the foreseeable future. Whether the Jets draft Morgan or another developmental tackle, New York is almost certain to remain in the market for swing options to add depth behind Smith, and fellow starters Joe Tippmann, Morgan Moses, Alijah Vera-Tucker, and John Simpson
