NFL Mock Draft: New York Jets Trade Up For Elite Receiver?

In the latest batch of national mock drafts, could the Jets pull off a trade up to secure a game-changing weapon for Aaron Rodgers?

The 2024 NFL Draft is officially two weeks away. Not only is draft season reaching a ever pitch for Jets fans, but mock draft fever is in full effect right now.

Who will the New York Jets select at No. 10 overall? Will New York even stay there, instead making an aggressive trade up to secure a potential star-level player? In NFL.com's latest mock draft, the Jets accomplish exactly that.

For the price to move up three spots to No. 7 overall with the Tennessee Titans, New York traded away their third-round pick. Thus, New York’s only selection in the first three rounds would be for Washington’s Rome Odunze three spots earlier than expected.

“Having aggressively upgraded the roster via free agency and a pair of trades, the Jets are clearly going for it in Take 2 of the Aaron Rodgers experience,” NFL.com's Gennaro Filice wrote. “So, with few obvious needs remaining, what’s stopping Joe Douglas from carrying this energy into the draft?

New York fills the third-round hole on Tennessee’s draft docket by flipping the rebuilding Titans Pick No. 72, thus allowing the Jets to leapfrog the Bears and snag the last of the Big Three wideouts. Remember: Mike Williams is a) coming off a torn ACL and b) on a one-year deal. Thus, Odunze gives Gang Green a) valuable insurance for 2024 and b) a dynamic complement to Garrett Wilson for years to come.”

Whether it be Odunze, Georgia tight end Brock Bowers, or one of the premier offensive tackle prospects, the heavy indication is New York will draft offense in the first round.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook betting odds, here’s how prognosticators stack up the odds for what position New York drafts first:

Offensive Lineman = +130

Tight End (Bowers) = +200

Wide Receiver = +240

A true toss-up for the Jets, in terms of what direction they may go to help out Rodgers and Co.

In the meantime, speculation is running rampant on the Jets potentially trading up for another wideout to pair alongside Wilson. If they drafted Odunze at No. 10, or even moved up a little bit, it would be a grand slam choice by general manager Joe Douglas.
