Haason Reddick on New York Jets Arrival: 'Going To Be Fun'

Haason Reddick's introduction to the New York Jets could lead to another big season for a top defense in the league.

As Haason Reddick stepped up to the podium at 1 Jets Drive, he left behind two years with his hometown team, the Philadelphia Eagles. 27 sacks through over 30 games played and a Super Bowl appearance alone made him a fan favorite throughout the community.

Just because the Temple product was traded for a conditional pick in 2026, doesn't mean he holds any anger or regret to his former team, though.

"It wasn't about 'what he has left in the tank,'" Reddick stated in his introduction with the New York Jets. "It's a business and sometimes hard decisions gotta be made even if you don't like them."

Now as another addition to Gang Green during the offseason, the 29-year-oild understands he comes to an already established group with plenty of All-Pro talents around him. Adding a Defensive Player of the Year finalist will certainly help, though.

"I'm happy to be around a group of guys like this," Reddick explained. "A talented roster. It’s going to be fun. I don’t think anybody’s ready for what’s about to happen.”

Since being drafted with the 13th overall pick in 2017 by the Arizona Cardinals, Reddick has since found his home as a dynamic edge rusher. In his last five seasons, the Camden native has recorded 52 sacks - fifth most in that span amongst players at his position. He led the league in fumbles forced in his first season with Philadelphia and became known as a clutch defender.

It's that kind of skillset that should pair well with a Jets defensive line currently housing players like All-Pro Quinnen Williams, and first-round talents like Jermaine Johnson and Will McDonald. As the elder statesman of the room, Reddick knows part of his job will be to teach the younger talents on the roster.

"There's a lot of knowledge I have to give. And that's what I'm here to do," Reddick explained.

New York may have finished 7-10 last season, but they have recorded a top-five defense in each of the last two seasons. The additions of All-Pros like Sauce Gardner, Quincy Williams, and others have allowed the organization to address the final need of the unit - an everydown edge defender.

That's exactly what the Jets are getting with Reddick.

"I'm all about constantly putting QBs under duress."
