Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams is on a quest to become the best player at his position in the National Football League.

During a feature interview on "The Athletic Football Show" released this week, veteran quarterback Jared Goff shared why Williams' growth has been so rewarding to observe the last few years.

After dealing with off the field issues and a suspension for violating league rules early in his career, the former first-round pick has matured and become the Lions' true No. 2 wide receiver.

"The most rewarding teammate journey I've ever been a part of," Goff revealed. "He came in, he was off the ACL. I'm sure he'd be the first to say that he wasn't up to the standard he wants to be early on in his career. To watch him learn how to work and how to put the time in. He's always been a good teammate. He's always been a good guy. But how much is required at this level? To watch him learn that and then want to ask the right questions."

Goff highlighted a moment recently in a meeting that showcased just how far the 25-year-old had come along in his development as a player.

"We're in a meeting the other day, and he stops the meeting to ask a question," Goff said. "I just kind of giggle. Like the guy four years ago would never consider to ask that, nor would even know why he was asking that question. So, just to see his growth mentally, from understanding coverages, it's been awesome and it really has been. To see his joy come to life on the football field. He's so fun to play with. He's one of my favorites of all-time. And I'm so happy he's my teammate."

All throughout training camp, Williams has flashed his growth and development. His route-tree has expanded, he has gained the trust of his teammates and he has regularly won and hauled in contested catches.

With new offensive coordinator Drew Petzing guiding the offense, there are elevated expectations about what the offense can accomplish and what Williams can bring to the table this season.
