2023 NFL Combine: Lions Day 2 Updates

In this story:
Several defensive linemen and linebackers had impressive workouts in front of NFL evaluators Thursday afternoon.
On Friday, defensive backs will take the field to showcase their speed and agility.
Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, fresh off of another round of NFL head coaching interviews, expressed to a small group of reporters that teams cannot find enough EDGE rushers and cornerbacks. Per Glenn, they're instrumental to the success of any team's defensive plans.
Glenn also expressed that he learned a tremendous amount from speaking intensively with other NFL teams and owners.
"I've had, I think five head coach interviews. If it happens, it happens. If it don't, it don't. Well, we'll see. We'll see," Glenn said, via the Detroit News. "The thing is, man I'm blessed to be in the position to be able to coach, in general. And I don't take that for granted, at all."
Glenn expressed he found the interview with Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay to be a "real treat."
"The one thing that was very, very interesting, to me, was being able to sit and talk to Mr. Irsay for about three and a half hours," Glenn said. "Now, that was a real treat. That was a real treat. The thing is, as we started to talk, it wasn't really about an interview. It was just like two guys just talking. And, everything was on the table. Everything.
"And, it was very, very interesting. And, you know what? I appreciate that, because now I have a guy that's worth billions of dollars who is just opening up to me for some odd reason. I don't know why. I think he got comfortable. I know I got comfortable. And, I just looked at him like he's just a guy, a real guy. So, I appreciate that part of him."
Unfortunately, Devon Witherspoon, widely considered a prospect the Lions are interested in, will not participate in on-field drills due to a hamstring injury.
Witherspoon reportedly had an MRI taken, and his injury is considered minor.

Witherspoon had an MRI on Thursday and it’s considered minor. But not taking chances.
