In this story:

Former Detroit Lions defensive back Alex Brown was sentenced in Wayne County to four months in jail, following a drunk driving charge.

In August of 2021, Brown and tight end Charlie Taumoepeau were involved in an automobile accident on Interstate 75 highway.

Brown reportedly had a blood alcohol level of .211 when given a breathalyzer test.

The incident was one of the first that Detroit's new front office and head coach had to address in Motown.

Head coach Dan Campbell took the opportunity to teach his roster the importance of making good decisions.

“It was an awful incident and an awful accident," said Campbell. "It’s something certainly we don’t condone, and we brought it up. It’s one of those eye-openers. It’s not okay to jump in a car after you drink, because bad things happen. That’s what Uber’s out there for. Don’t even take your car when you know you’re going out. Just Uber to go out there, and Uber to come home."

The Lions parted ways with Brown soon after the accident, and Taumoepeau was waved with a non-football injury designation.
