Lions Enter Phase 3 of Offseason Regimen

The Detroit Lions have entered the third phase of the league's offseason schedule.

Organized team activities allow all NFL teams to practice on the field for non-contact drills.

According to the league's website, "Phase Three consists of four weeks of practices with no pads (except knee and elbow pads and helmets) and no live contact. Teams are permitted to run 7-on-7, 9-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills sans contact."

OTAs are voluntary, except for mandatory minicamp, which will be conducted in early June.

This week may mark the first occasion where running back Jahmyr Gibbs and defensive back Brian Branch practice in front of reporters at the team's Allen Park practice facility.

Also, the full team will have the opportunity to practice, meaning rookies will get their first chance to compete against established veterans on the roster.

Among the key position battles will be at the guard position and along the interior of the defensive line.

OTAs will also provide another opportunity for injury updates on safety Tracy Walker and defensive lineman Levi Onwuzurike, who has been present at voluntary workouts all throughout the offseason.

Four rookies remain unsigned ahead of OTAs.
