GREEN BAY, Wis. – With Jordan Love delivering a signature comeback and Rashan Gary leading a strong defensive performance with three sacks, the Green Bay Packers beat the New Orleans Saints 18-17 on Sunday.

Afterward, coach Matt LaFleur talked extensively about the team’s fight and resiliency after 11 penalties and a punt-return touchdown put his team in a 17-0 hole.

“There was never a doubt, right?” LaFleur led off his introductory comments. “Not how you draw it up. I’ve never been part of a win like this. The guys in the locker room, they believe in one another and they continue to battle and that’s really, as a coach, that’s all you can ask of anybody is to continue to fight, continue to battle.”

“The resiliency of that locker room was incredible. I have never seen anything like it. It’s hard not to get too emotional about it. I just can’t say enough great things about this group in terms of their mentality, their belief in one another, the way they work. Obviously, we were shorthanded, a lot of really good players. When you look at that inactive list, you’re like, ‘There’s a lot of big-time names on that list.’”

Five starters were inactive. That includes four on offense with running back Aaron Jones, receiver Christian Watson, left tackle David Bakhtiari and left guard Elgton Jenkins. It’s no wonder the Packers sputtered through three quarters.

“But it doesn’t matter because that’s the National Football League and everybody’s dealing with different things. But our guys continue to fight, continue to battle. It was like a nightmare that went to a dream. I can’t even remember the fourth quarter. It’s a blur. But you’ve got to give our coaching staff and everybody a part of this, our players certainly, a ton of credit to continue to fight and battle for four quarters.”
