DETROIT – The Detroit Lions have four consecutive wins against the Green Bay Packers. They haven’t won five in a row since 1954.

The Lions rule the roost in the NFC North. Entering their annual Thanksgiving game, they are 8-2 and heavy favorites against the Packers (4-6), who have won two of their last three. Detroit, a prime Super Bowl contender, is an 8.5-point favorite at FanDuel Sportsbook. The Packers haven’t been that big of an underdog against the Lions since it was a nine-point spread in 1971.

Looking back even further, the Lions haven’t been 8-2 since 1962.

Both teams have a lot of young firepower. According to the NFL, Detroit has a league-leading 17 touchdowns from players with three years of less of experience. The Packers have 16. Of course, all of those touchdowns have come from players with two years or less of experience. Romeo Doubs is third in the NFL with seven touchdown catches. Rookie Jayden Reed has five, including last week’s rushing touchdown.

The power of Detroit’s offense is the running game, which has the physical David Montgomery providing the thunder and rookie Jahmyr Gibbs proving the lightning. That sets up one of the best play-action passing games in the NFL.

Slot receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is one of the best in the business. He is coming off an eight-catch game vs. Chicago. St. Brown has 28 career games with at least six catches. That’s second-most in NFL history behind Justin Jefferson’s 32.

“He’s a good player,” Packers slot defender Keiseasn Nixon said. “I grew up watching him – he’s from California, too. Worked out with him during the summers before. He’s a good player. It’s another challenge but it’s just another receiver we see. We’ll see another the week after and the week after and the week after.”
