New England Patriots vs. Kansas City Chiefs Week 15: How to Watch, Betting Odds, Flexed 'Showdown'

The Kansas City Chiefs are caught in a tight race for the AFC West and head to Foxborough to take on the New England Patriots in Week 15.
In this story:

The Kansas City Chiefs find themselves in unfamiliar territory. Since quarterback Patrick Mahomes took over under center, they've never played a road game in the playoffs. That could change this year as Kansas City holds the No. 3 seed in the AFC entering Week 15. Unless that improves, the Chiefs could be forced to play twice on the road before they can defend their Super Bowl title.

“The division is tight. The AFC is tight,” Mahomes said this week as he prepared to lead his team into Foxboro against the New England Patriots Sunday at 1 p.m. “We have to go out there and play our best football and try to get better this week and try to find a way to get a win.”

The game at Gillette Stadium was originally scheduled for Monday night, but was flexed out of the prime-time slot because of the Pats' dismal season.

Kansas City's lead in the West is down to just one game thanks to a Denver hot streak. The Broncos have won six of seven and are threatening an eighth-straight Chiefs crown in the AFC West.

“It’s week-to-week in the league. I think our players understand that,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. “They know what they need to do. We just have to get it done.”

The Patriots don't have to make postseason travel plans as they've been eliminated with four games remaining. That's the first time that's happened to a Patriots team since 2000. In the 22 years since, New England has only taken the field twice with no postseason appearance in play.

While the Patriots hold the worst record in the AFC and are tied for the second-worst record in the NFL, they are in play for the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft - something New England fans are already turning their attention to.
