Raiders' Offense Dealt Heavy Injury Blows Ahead of Eagles Clash

In this story:
The Las Vegas Raiders are dealing with their fair share of injuries before a tough Week 15 road battle against the Philadelphia Eagles. As challenges continue to mount for the Raiders, the hurdles for this week are clear.
Raiders Injury Woes
The Raiders ruled out three players for Sunday's contest with the Eagles: wide receiver Alex Bachman (thumb), offensive tackle Kolton Miller (ankle), and quarterback Geno Smith (shoulder/back) were all listed as out for the contest. This means the Raiders will now start Kenny Pickett at quarterback for the first time this season.
"It's going to all depend on how he responds to the treatment, and they're doing an elaborate process here to get him right and make sure that he's okay. And we won't know until we get through that. We don't have any indicators yet, so I can't tell you," Carroll said this week about Smith, who was injured in last week's loss to the Denver Broncos.

"Am I concerned about him? I always want our guys to get back as soon as possible, and I know, as a competitor, he wants to get back out there as soon as he can possibly get there. And he will. He'll do that."
Las Vegas traded for Pickett before the season and he will now see him navigate an offense that has struggled all season long. Smith has not proven to be the answer for the Raiders and has had among the worst seasons of his career in 2025, opening the door for the Raiders to find potential replacements in the long-term.

But due to his shoulder injury, the Raiders will now see a new quarterback under center for the first time this season. With Smith and ex-offensive coordinator Chip Kelly both out of the picture this week, there are increasingly less people to shoulder blame for the offense's issues.
There were also three Raiders listed as questionable: safety Jeremy Chinn (back), offensive lineman Jordan Meredith (foot), and tight end Ian Thomas (calf). If Meredith doesn't play, that would mean Pickett's first start would come without arguably any of the Raiders' three best offensive linemen.

With that said, Meredith did practice in full participation on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. If he can play this week, the return of Miller soon should only further solidify the line.
