One Offensive Position Looms Large Over the Rams' Future

The Los Angeles Rams have one of the best offenses in the league. Which of their offensive positions projects to give them the most trouble in the future?

In this story:

There's no doubt that the Los Angeles Rams offense will pick up where it left off in 2025. They may not have added much talent to that side of the ball this offseason, but they still have draft picks to get their reigning MVP quarterback another weapon to throw the ball to.

As long as Sean McVay is their head coach, I have faith that their offense will never dip below league average. He knows how to create open spaces with receivers that confuse defenses, and paired with how excellent Les Snead is at drafting, they have what it takes to be perennial contenders. Which offensive position should concern them the most for the future?

Concern for the Future

Davante Adams

It's easy to say quarterback is their most concerning position because they don't have an heir to Matthew Stafford's legacy on their roster. However, their wide receiver room is more concerning than that. I can see even the most average quarterback find a way to keep the Rams offense consistent. I can't see this wide receiver room improving as it stands.

Davante Adams was a revelation for their offense last season, but he's in the last year of his deal and a veteran at this point. I'm sure he'll continue being a great receiver, but they have gotten the best out of him in 2025, and it still wasn't enough for a Super Bowl appearance.

Puka Nacua

The elephant in the room is that they have Puka Nacua, who's one of the best young wide receivers in the NFL. If they can flesh out their receiving room around him, they should be good for the future, right? I'd argue that this still isn't enough.

Not even mentioning his off-the-field antics, Nacua hasn't been the most durable receiver. Their offense dips when he's not on the field, and if they don't have a veteran like Adams ready to fill in, their passing game would take a big hit. Finally, his future contract may restrict the Rams from addressing other roster needs or giving him an accompanying star.

KonataMumpfield

They have intriguing young receivers like Konata Mumpfield, Xavier Smith, and Jordan Whittington. They could bank on them progressing into starters for them, but until they take that step forward, the Rams receiver room looks sparse outside the top two options.

I think it'd be in their best interest to draft a wide receiver with their first-round pick, as that would ensure they select a receiver with the potential to develop into a star.
