Ravens CB Kyu Blu Kelly Moonlighting as Video Game Developer?

The Baltimore Ravens selected Stanford cornerback Kyu Blu Kelly with pick No. 157 overall in the fifth-round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Baltimore Ravens rookie cornerback Kyu Blu Kelly is apparently a man of many talents.

In addition to being among the more highly-touted cornerback prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft class — a distinction which allowed for his selection by Ravens at No. 157 overall — the Stanford product is about to add video game designer to his already impressive resume.

The 21-year-old son of former Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Brian Kelly has been tapped to help develop a video game, based on a movie screenplay written by a family friend. After all, no one knew his capabilities, or his love to video games, better than his father.

"He was like, 'Kyu, can you create a story? Like a story board, or a log or some type of lore for this game and figure out a story based behind it?'" Blu Kelly told ravens.com. I just sat down for maybe like a few hours, created a whole story board, characters and stuff like that. They gave it to the company, and they really liked it. So, that game is still in progress; we're still figuring it out. It'll definitely be coming out soon with the movie and everything."

While Blu Kelly was not at liberty to provide any intricate details of either the game or the movie, he was able to provide a brief description.

“It’s like a time-travel SEAL Team Six,” Blu Kelly said with a grin.

In addition to his audio/visual prowess, Blu Kelly is expected to add another element to the Ravens defensive backfield in 2023. In fact, Ravens Country predicted that Baltimore might be wise to consider adding him to their stable of defensive backs prior to the Draft. As a former track star, he possesses both the speed and athleticism to remain in step with receivers in coverage. While most proficient in man coverage, Blu Kelly has the ability to play in some Cover 3, as well. He is aggressive at the catch point, but could use some improvement in his engagement when playing off-coverage.

Though he is unlikely to challenge starting cornerbacks Marlon Humphrey or Brandon Stephens, he should be a notable depth option alongside Demarion Williams and Jayln Armour-Davis.
