Baltimore Ravens fans remember Super Bowl XLVII for a 34-31 win over the San Francisco 49ers back in February of 2013. Some will remember it as Harbaugh vs. Harbaugh as brothers John and Jim coached against each other.

Still, others will remember it as the day the lights went out mid-game inside the Superdome.

Just minutes after Jacoby Jones gave the Ravens a 28-6 lead on a 109-yard second-half kickoff return for a touchdown, the lights went out. A few backup lights remained on, but play on the field was stopped for about 34 minutes, and the international television broadcast was interrupted.

Officials from Entergy - the company that supplies power to the stadium - said the outage happened after sensing equipment detected an abnormality in the system.

In a statement, representatives from Entergy and the Superdome said a piece of equipment monitoring electrical loads sensed the abnormality and opened up a breaker, partially disrupting power.

"The power outage was an unfortunate moment in what has been an otherwise shining Super Bowl week for the city of New Orleans,'" Mayor Mitch Landrieau said at the time. "In the coming days, I expect a full after-action report from all parties involved.

"For us, the Super Bowl isn't over until the last visitor leaves town, so we're focused on continuing to show our visitors a good time."

The outage set the stage for a dramatic finish to the game, as quarterback Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers scored 17 points over a span of four minutes and 10 seconds in the third quarter.

"The problem was, we were talking it up on the sideline, like 'They're trying to take our momentum,' " Baltimore safety Ed Reed said. "And I was like, 'There are two teams on this field right here.' But once we started talking about it, it happened."

The Ravens answered with a field goal with 4:19 left in the game and the 49ers had a chance to tie or win the game on what would be their final drive of the game, down 34-31.

But the Ravens' defense held as Kaepernick threw three incomplete passes to turn the ball over on downs.
