Ravens vs. Lamar Jackson: No Odell Beckham Jr. Signing Holdup?

The Baltimore Ravens are still at odds over a new contract for quarterback Lamar Jackson, but that doesn't seem to stop the franchise from going after its free agent targets - like OBJ.

In this story:

The Baltimore Ravens are not letting Lamar Jackson's contract situation stand in the way of getting their business done.

After general manager Eric DeCosta stated in February that the Ravens would "struggle to conduct business" with the dark cloud of Jackson's future hanging over them, it now appears that the franchise is prepared to push forward.

After several reports surfaced that the Ravens had entertained the idea of going after DeAndre Hopkins or Courtland Sutton, Baltimore has done more than "entertain" an idea of going after a star receiver.

With Odell Beckham Jr., a free agent, the Ravens have put forth a contract offer for the former Los Angeles Rams star, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Precisely what the salary will be for Beckham Jr. in Baltimore is unknown at this point; OBJ is said to want $15 million for one year. But the Ravens desperately need to add to their receiver room, and Beckham Jr. would undoubtedly fill a need. With tight end Mark Andrews the lone hand for the offense at times last season, the need for offensive help is glaring.

If, and that is a big if, Baltimore can get Odell through the doors, it will be a big coup for the franchise and lift the doom and gloom around the Lamar situation

While there's still time for Jackson to sign his non-exclusive franchise tag (July 17), adding some key pieces around him might be the thing that gets him to sign long-term.
