'Really Disappointing!' Seattle Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll Taking This Season ‘Personally’
The Seattle Seahawks had a decent offseason after coming off a playoff appearance with Geno Smith at the helm. The Seahawks knocked the draft out of the park as they added Devon Witherspoon, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Zach Charbonnet.
Such was their offseason additions, some had the Seahawks building off last year's exploits and potentially going on a deep playoff run, and maybe a Super Bowl appearance.
But 13 weeks into the season, Seattle is under .500 at 6-7 and is on a four-game losing streak headed into Monday night’s meeting with the Philadelphia Eagles. Not being able to live with the lofty expectations set in the preseason has head coach Pete Carroll taking it personally.
“It’s really disappointing for me with all of the work we put in, that we missed on the opportunity to do something right," Carroll said. "We practice and prepare to do right in the games, that’s really what this whole thing is all about. When time presents itself and the opportunity presents itself, you’re in the right spot, and you see things the right way and you respond perfectly, is what we’re trying to get done. Whenever that doesn’t show up, I take it personally. It’s personal. It’s a personal response out of me, because I’m trying to get these guys right and it isn’t as clean or sharp as it should be."

With four games left in the season, the Seahawks still have time to put themselves into playoff contention, and it starts with the Eagles on Monday Night Football.
After the Eagles, Seattle faces Tennessee, Pittsburgh, and Arizona, so there are "winnable" games for Carroll's team, but they need to get out of the current funk they're in.
If there was ever a "right" time to face the Eagles, then this is it. Coming off back-to-back blowout losses for coach Nick Sirianni's team, maybe the Seahawks can get back on track at home.
The season promised so much for the Seahawks. While the year hasn't gone the way many had envisioned, there is still plenty of football to set things straight, but the margin for error is now gone.
Carroll is disappointed in how the season has gone, but if the Seahawks miss the playoffs altogether, then that disappointment will only be enhanced.
