Seahawks' Pro Bowl Defensive Star Wants to Draft ... Bijan Robinson?

While his defense could use a new rookie such as Jalen Carter, Seattle Seahawks' safety Quandre Diggs would rather draft a running back from his alma mater.

In this story:

You'd think Seattle Seahawks Pro Bowl safety Quandre Diggs would be excited about adding a lofty pick to the defense in Thursday's NFL Draft. But you might be forgetting that he often wears not rose-colored glasses, but eyewear with a burnt-orange tint.

The fact that Seattle is desperate for defensive help and - with the 5th overall pick - is positioned to add a potential star such as Georgia behemoth lineman Jalen Carter should excite Diggs. Despite Carter's "red flags", he is seemingly a good fit and upgrade to a defense that struggled down the stretch of the 2022 season.

Furthermore, Seattle seems set with All-Rookie running back Kenneth Walker III. So a running back over a defensive player doesn't make a lot of sense. Unless, that is, you went to the University of Texas.

Diggs played in Austin. And so did the widely regarded best running back in the draft, Bijan Robinson.

On his social media Diggs is going a step further. He upped the ante by calling the former Longhorn the best "player" in the draft.

To Diggs' point, what's not to like? Robinson has swivel, speed and hands. He scored 41 touchdowns during his career at Texas including 18 on the ground last season. He's been linked to almost every team in the Top 10, and some outside of it. Shoot, the Dallas Cowboys have Tony Pollard and recently cut Ezekiel Elliott. But their fans - and star pass-rusher Micah Parsons - are agog over the prospect of landing Robinson.

Almost every team that needs a running back covets Robinson. Even some teams - like Seattle? - that don't.
