Sam Darnold Reveals What Makes Jadarian Price 'Special' After Joint Practice

Following the joint practice with the Titans, Sam Darnold had some praise for Seahawks RB Jadarian Price.

In this story:

Anytime a team uses a first-round pick on a running back, there will be plenty of skepticism. Often considered one of the easiest positions to replace on offense, running backs don't always get the respect they should when it comes to the draft. Those questions only grow louder when that first-round pick is used on a running back who wasn't the starter for his collegiate team.

That was the case for the Seattle Seahawks this year when they decided to use the 32nd overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft on Jadarian Price out of Notre Dame. While Price has all the tools to be a feature back, he happened to share the field with Jeremiyah Love, who was the third overall pick for the Arizona Cardinals.

In Seattle, Price is vying for the starting spot and is battling with George Holani while Zach Charbonnet recovers from ACL surgery. We have yet to see Price play in an NFL game after he sat out the preseason opener against the Dallas Cowboys. If we do see him on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, however, Sam Darnold believes he will prove to be "special."

Jadarian Price can do it all according to QB Sam Darnold

Following their joint practice with the Titans on Friday, Darnold had plenty of praise for the rookie running back. Darnold especially loved how Price can run between the tackles as well as outside, but also sees him as a threat in the passing game.

"He's a special player," Darnold said via Ari Horton and John Boyle of the Seahawks' official website. "He's a really special player. He brings a different facet to the offense that only a guy like him can bring. Whether it's catching passes out of the backfield, catching screens, running in between the tackles, outside of the tackles, he can really do it all. And I know he's just going to continue to get better and learn."

Price made several grabs during the session, including a big gain during seven-on-sevens. He also ripped off a long run during 11-on-11, which was an encouraging sight after he missed time during camp.

As for his versatility, this should come as no surprise to anyone who watched Price at Notre Dame. While he didn't get many targets as a receiver, he made the most of them as he had 87 yards and two touchdowns on just six receptions in 2025. He also proved to be a weapon on special teams, scoring two touchdowns while averaging 37.5 yards per return on kickoffs.

Price proved to be capable of helping his team in multiple ways at Notre Dame and should do the same with the Seahawks.
