Steelers Appear Ready for Stadium Change

The Pittsburgh Steelers seem to be putting the pieces together for a massive move.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers already have a new name to their beloved North Shore stadium, but now, they might be ready to make an even bigger upgrade to their home.

The Steelers announced the promotion of David Morehouse to executive vice president for strategy after joining the team as a senior advisor last fall. According to a press release, his role will be the "strategic direction of Acrisure Stadium operations."

Which makes you wonder, are the Steelers the next team to make some serious changes to their home turf?

The Steelers could be the next team to follow amongst those who built their stadium around 2000. The team broke ground on the then-Heinz Field in 1999 and opened its doors in 2001. 22 years later, they have a new name and could be putting their pieces together to make some changes.

The team is already making a minor, yet significant change to their stadium, spending $1.4 million to upgrade 12 restrooms within the stadium, as reported by All Steelers earlier this offseason.

What comes next could be a few things. Changes to the scoreboard, a massive overhaul of the layout. The options are plenty.

With the investment of the restrooms and the changes Acrisure Stadium has already made since changing their name, it's hard to envision a total rebuild of the North Shore location. Their lease ends in 2030, but team president Art Rooney II has made it known he'd like to renew the agreement when it expires.

So, don't expect to have to find a new tailgating parking lot for Steelers games. Maybe anticipate a better fan experience coming soon, though.
