Former NFL WR Slams Steelers' DK Metcalf for Fan Altercation

In this story:
The Pittsburgh Steelers found themselves in controversy at the wide receiver position during their win over the Detroit Lions.
During the game, top wide receiver DK Metcalf approached a fan by the benches and punched them. While details are still emerging from the situation, Metcalf has been hit with a two-game suspension that would rule him out for the remainder of the regular season.
It has caught the attention of the media, and did so almost immediately. Now, former NFL player and Super Bowl Champion Golden Tate has issued his opinion. He appeared on Kay Adams Up and Adams show on the Fanduel TV Network to issue his opinion on the matter.
"This is completely unacceptable. How they even got that close to each other in the first place, why DK was even entertaining it, how you got into that situation? You should not be in that situation. We know that fans, especially on the road, are going to be talking their mess. And there's really nothing that could've been said to him for him to react that way." Tate said. "I've been called many things, including the 'N-Bomb,' they've said stuff about my family to my face but I've never been so emotionally unstable to do something like that"

Tate makes a point to include that he has also been a victim of vicious personal attacks when he was an active NFL player, as it seems to come with the territory of being both a top professional athlete and a public figure.
Metcalf is not the first Steelers wideout to have off-field concerns in recent seasons. Diontae Johnson, Chase Claypool and George Pickens all had something happen during their time with the team, but none of them directly interacted with a fan in the manner that Metcalf did during the game.
The Impact Of Metcalf's Suspension
The Steelers will take on the Cleveland Browns and the Baltimore Ravens in search of a playoff berth, so the absence of their top receiving option could prove costly. As Aaron Rodgers has continued to improve as both a quarterback and leader for this year's Steelers team, Metcalf has now set a large roadblock for the team's success moving forward as they likely enter into the playoff in a few short weeks.

The Steelers are looking to get their first playoff win since the 2016 Wild Card Round, and will likely need DK Metcalf around to get over that obstacle.
