Who is the best free agent left for the Houston Texans? Is there a right option listed entering April?

According to Pro Football Focus, if Houston were to make another splash move, targeting former New York Giants cornerback Adoree Jackson seems to be the top move. Coming from a man-heavy defense that focuses on building at the line of scrimmage, this seems to be a fit for both sides.

Wink Martindale's unit turned a corner over the second half of the year, and Jackson looked improved once returning from injury. Injuries have limited him in four of the past five seasons, but he has true inside-outside versatility with good lateral agility and a knack for making plays on the football, often laying out for acrobatic pass breakups after goading quarterbacks into the occasional throw into his coverage area. -- Pro Football Focus

Houston's in need for a quality No. 2 cornerback could lead to a potential conversation. The Texans added two former first-rounders in C.J. Henderson and Jeff Okudah this offseason, but both come with concerns.

So does Jackson, who hasn't been able to stay healthy for a full season since his rookie year in 2017. When on the field, he's a hyper-aggressive playmaker in space that creates opportunities to make plays. He's also a ball magnet, having broken up 56 passes in seven seasons.

The asking price could determine if Jackson is a legitimate option in free agency. Oudah and Henderson are on one-year prove-it deals and are looking to cash in next offseason. Jackson already signed a three-year extension with the Giants before the start of the 2021 season.

What's Jackson's value? Is he a capable starter for a dozen games worth the $11 million asking price? Could he be willing to take less on a multi-year deal and make it incentive-based first? Could the pricing of cornerbacks in the draft factor into the choice of bringing over a veteran?

Texans general manager Nick Caserio has options after freeing up over $16 million in cap space last month with the restructuring of contracts. If there's a move worth targeting, he'll have the funds to target the player in no time.
