Should Titans Trade Up, Trade Back, Or Stay Put?

There's been a lot of talk about the Tennessee Titans trading up to nab a quarterback in round one. There's also been some about trading back, and of course, they could stay put and draft at No.11.

In this story:

NASHVILLE - The Tennessee Titans hold six selections in the upcoming NFL Draft and have multiple needs they hope to fill during the three-day run beginning April 27.

Speculation has been rampant of late that the Titans are considering a move up to No.3 to secure one of the top four quarterbacks in this class.

I'll say it quickly, this is not a move I believe the Titans will make, nor is it one I would want them to make unless, somehow, Bryce Young or CJ Stroud unexplainable slips to No.3, and even then, it would be a tough move for me given the needs this team has, and what the compensation would be, specifically from this year's draft.

Add to that the potential of the Titans being bad this season and being in a place to draft one of the top quarterbacks in 2024. Trading away picks now on a developmental-type player is a risky proposition.

Another possibility, and one that makes sense, is trading back in round one to acquire more draft capital to be able to fill more holes with young players.

Should the Titans receive an offer for No.11, they could potentially add two or three more selections in this or next year's draft.

For instance, let's speculate that Paris Johnson Jr. and Jaxon Smith Njigba are both off the board, along with all four quarterbacks, Will Anderson, Tyree Wilson, Christian Gonzalez, and Devon Witherspoon. While there are some players left that the Titans could target at No. 11, it seems a better move to me for them to move back into round one, grabbing more picks along the way.

Depending on how far they move back, they could still find themselves in a position to add the player they might have taken had they remained in place, but now get their guy along with others too.

Lastly, this one is the most simple. Staying put seems like a good decision too, depending on which player they desire and him still being there when they hit the clock.

Everyone has an opinion, and opinions vary, but for me, it seems like an easy choice to say moving up is not really an option I'm in love with.

Staying put works, as long as it gets you one of the 14 players that most teams have on their boards as the only legitimate first-round talents in this class.

Finally, trading back and getting more talent is my preference if, of course, as I said, you aren't in a position to get one of those 14 players that fit into a position of immediate need.

The Titans must get an immediate difference-maker if they move up or stay put in round one. They can afford to add a slightly lesser talent with their first pick if doing so adds other talents too.

I'm ready for the flames that will almost certainly come my way.
